Grounds

 

With every football club comes a football ground and in the case of Sunderland AFC, Roker Park was our 6th named home. In understanding how we came to reside there it’s appropriate to recount our long journey that took us from the South side of the River Wear to the North. 

 

Blue House Field, Hendon – 1879 to 1881

Groves Field, Ashbrooke – 1882 to 1883

Horatio Street, Roker – 1883 to 1884

Abbs Field, Fulwell – 1884 to 1886

Newcastle Road – 1886 to 1898
